November 25, 2024

Samhitha Medatia, an intellectual property attorney with more than a decade of experience, has joined Ballard Spahr’s Intellectual Property Department and Intellectual Property Litigation Group as of counsel, firm Chair Peter Michaud announced today. Samhitha is resident in the firm’s Atlanta office.

“I’ve known Samhitha for some years, and am so pleased that she’s joining our team,” said Atlanta Office Managing Partner Richard W. Miller, who also leads the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group. “She has experience across an array of technologies, has a friendly and approachable manner, and understands the critical needs of our clients’ businesses.”

Samhitha has advised on the management of intellectual property portfolios, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. She has handled patent litigation for clients in a wide variety of industries, including the automotive, banking and Fintech, chemical manufacturing, consumer electronics, and software fields. Samhitha has litigated in every major patent-related jurisdiction, including the International Trade Commission and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, which, along with her clerkship with Hon. Jimmie V. Reyna on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, gives her special insight into patent litigation at all levels.

Samhitha joined Ballard Spahr from Fidelity Information Services, where she served as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel.

“Ballard Spahr is known for the excellence and breadth of its IP practice and the close partnerships it forms with clients,” Samhitha said. “When I realized I wanted to return to private practice, I looked for a firm where they were doing sophisticated work for leading clients in a range of industries. That’s Ballard. I’m eager to get started.”
