Ballard Spahr represented ClimeCo LLC in its recent acquisition of assets from the former Carbonfund.org Foundation, Inc.
In the transaction, ClimeCo acquired Carbonfund.org Foundation’s carbon-offsetting and Carbonfree certification operations, as well as the Carbonfund.org name. The entity formerly known as Carbonfund.org Foundation will continue as Environment Next, Inc., a non-profit organization providing climate change leadership grants to individuals and non-profits around the world.
ClimeCo is a respected global adviser, transaction facilitator, trader, and developer of environmental commodity market products and related solutions. It specialize in voluntary carbon, regulated carbon, renewable energy credits, plastics credits, and regional criteria pollutant trading programs. Complementing these programs is a team of professionals skilled in providing sustainability and ESG advisory solutions, and developing and financing GHG abatement systems.
Environment and Natural Resources Partner Brendan K. Collins led the team that represented ClimeCo in the acquisition of assets.
