WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 2, 2024) – Kristen W. Broz—a litigator and legal counselor who represents clients in high-stakes antitrust and competition matters—has joined Ballard Spahr’s Litigation Department and Antitrust and Competition Group as a partner, firm Chair Peter Michaud announced today.
Kristen’s addition in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office further strengthens Ballard Spahr’s antitrust and litigation capabilities in the capital and nationally, as businesses across industries face heightened government activity and market flux regarding antitrust and competition issues. In addition to handling antitrust cases, Kristen brings significant experience in complex data privacy, class actions, cybersecurity, and government contracting cases.
“Kristen’s arrival couldn’t come at a better time,” said Jason A. Leckerman, chair of the firm’s 250-member Litigation Department and leader of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Group. “The shifting landscape of government antitrust enforcement, the focus on the use of AI and algorithms for pricing, cybersecurity threats—all these challenges and more confront our clients. Kristen brings her wide-ranging litigation and counseling experience at an opportune time for our firm and clients.”
Kristen has litigated complex cases across the country in federal and state courts, as well as before federal agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission, International Trade Commission, and Boards of Contract Appeals. She also has represented clients in appeals and amicus filings before appellate courts and the U.S. Supreme Court. Her clients span a broad range of industries, including technology, gaming, health care, construction, payment card, and real estate.
Kristen joins Ballard Spahr from Fox Rothschild, where she was a litigation partner and served as co-chair of that firm’s Antitrust Group.
“Ballard is a strong fit for my clients and contacts and presents a tremendous opportunity to grow,” Kristen said. “The firm’s national platform and reputation for antitrust excellence elevate my practice and make the firm even stronger in D.C. and beyond. I’m thrilled to be part of the Ballard team.”
