Lisa Mayo Haynes Honored for Innovative Leadership by Corporate Counsel

July 31, 2024

Lisa Mayo Haynes, Director of Technology Innovation at Ballard Spahr and a leader in the firm’s Client Value and Innovation Team, has been named an Innovative Leadership honoree as part of Corporate Counsel’s 2024 Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards.

Lisa joined Ballard Spahr more than three decades ago, serving in successively more responsible positions as technology and data evolved and Ballard Spahr’s needs changed—and grew—with them. When Ballard Spahr combined with Lindquist and Vennum in 2018, Lisa designed and implemented the project that melded the two firms’ data, helping to ensure a smooth and successful merger. In her current role, she focuses on emerging technology, including artificial intelligence, to assess how it can be used to enhance attorneys’ work and refine the firm’s renowned level of client service.

“Operational excellence is a core value at Ballard, and Lisa is a shining example of why we are national leaders in the area of client value and innovation,” firm Chair Peter V. Michaud said. “Her skill, foresight, and creativity have helped the firm harness data and technology to improve operations and give clients the best possible counsel and work product. The work of Lisa and her team give us a tremendous competitive advantage, and this recognition is very well-deserved.”

The Client Value and Innovation Team is regularly recognized across the legal industry for intelligent, strategic adoption and implementation of technology. The National Law Journal, Financial Times, and American Lawyer have formally recognized its accomplishments, as has The BTI Consulting Group. Its Ballard360 suite of technology applications provides clients with greater transparency and efficiency, increased cost predictability, and round-the-clock access to project status, budget, and billing information. The team also has launched legislative trackers on artificial intelligence, cannabis, cryptocurrency and blockchain, and PFAS, or “forever chemicals.”

Lisa will receive her award on Sept. 24 at the Women, Influence & Power in Law Conference in Chicago. For further information, please see Corporate Counsel’s full list of Women, Influence and Power in Law Award recipients.
