Ballard Spahr Litigation Associate Isabella Salomão Nascimento has been named a 2023 Minnesota Lawyer Up & Coming Attorney.
Ms. Salomão Nascimento’s matters have included Colborn v. Netflix, a case arising from Netflix’s “Making a Murderer” that could have changed the scope of defamation law had the Ballard Spahr team not obtained a full dismissal on summary judgment. Ms. Salomão Nascimento has also been involved in an ongoing pro bono class-action lawsuit with the ACLU of Minnesota and Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid representing seven unhoused individuals whose belongings were destroyed when their encampment was bulldozed by the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, the City of Minneapolis, and Hennepin County. Before joining Ballard Spahr, Ms. Salomão Nascimento served for two years as a staff attorney for the ACLU of Minnesota, where she worked on several high-profile constitutional law and class-action lawsuits. She is now an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department and premier Media and Entertainment Law practice.
Minnesota Lawyer’s Up & Coming Attorneys are lawyers in their first 10 years of practice who have distinguished themselves through professional accomplishment, leadership, and service to community and profession. Previous Ballard Spahr winners include Katie LaGrange in 2019, Katy Wendt in 2021, and Matt Thornton in 2022.
