Chair-Elect Peter Michaud Named Notable LGBTQ Executive by Twin Cities Business

Ballard Spahr Chair-Elect Peter V. Michaud has been recognized as a Notable LGBTQ Executive by Twin Cities Business.
Mr. Michaud has spent his legal career with Ballard Spahr, and has served as chair of the firm’s Business and Transactions Department and Managing Partner of its Minneapolis location. He has been a vocal proponent of Equality Ballard: LGBTQIA+ Colleagues and Allies, a business resource group that provides opportunities for business development and pro bono outreach to the LGBTQIA+ community while maintaining a supportive internal environment. He is an active member of the firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, which works to develop, promote, and implement key initiatives to guide the firm toward its diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Mr. Michaud will become the firm’s first openly gay chair when his term begins on January 1, 2024.
Mr. Michaud was named one of Twin Cities Business’ 100 People to Know in 2023 and, in recognition of his contribution of more than 50 hours of pro bono service in a calendar year, has been named a North Star Lawyer by the Minnesota State Bar Association three times.
Twin Cities Business compiles its annual Notable LGBTQ Executives list to help illustrate the growing reach of LGBTQ presence, involvement, and leadership in communities and businesses around the state. Those selected self-identify as LGBTQ, serve in a C-suite or senior-level role in Minnesota, have at least five years of experience in their industry, and have shown the ability to effect change, share expertise, and exhibit leadership in their programs and organizations.
