Isabella Salomão Nascimento co-wrote a piece for the Media Law Resource Center's MediaLawLetter on Goyette et al v. City of Minneapolis et al, a case brought by journalists who were subjected to unconstitutional conduct by law enforcement officers from the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, and State of Minnesota. The State settled, but the City and County sought summary judgment - and were denied it, sending the case to trial.
"The decision is a ringing affirmation of the importance and vitality of a free and independent press, as guaranteed by the First Amendment," the co-authors wrote.
Ms. Salomão Nascimento is a member of Ballard Spahr's nationally recognized Media & Entertainment Law Group. She began serving as co-counsel in this matter in her previous role as a staff attorney at the ACLU of Minnesota.
