Denver Office Managing Partner Damon O. Barry participated in "Mental Health Matters," a panel discussion sponsored by the Denver Business Journal.
"Lawyers are less likely to admit they need help or seek it," Mr. Barry said. "For the most part, we’re trained to help solve other people’s problems and don’t really look inward. We’ve always thought about this issue – it’s not a new issue – but we haven’t done a great job of solving the problem. The biggest thing we’ve learned through this pandemic has been awareness. This current situation has destigmatized and normalized the issue, so it’s now OK to talk about mental health. It’s OK to say, 'I need help” or 'We have a problem.'”
Mr. Barry is a member of Ballard Spahr's Business and Transactions Department.
