L.A. Business Journal Honors Ballard Spahr’s Robert Gutierrez as a “Minority Leader of Influence”

Ballard Spahr’s Robert S. Gutierrez, whose three decades of practice in entertainment and First Amendment law include representing some of the biggest names in Hollywood, has been recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the leading attorneys of color in the L.A. region.
The Business Journal bestows the recognition—2021 Minority Leaders of Influence: Attorneys—based on nominees’ professional accomplishments over the past 18 months, along with career-long achievements and professional and community activity and leadership. Mr. Gutierrez will be profiled in the January 25 issue of the Business Journal along with fellow honorees.
Mr. Gutierrez is a member of Ballard Spahr’s award-winning Media and Entertainment Law Group. He has played a leading role in high-profile and landmark cases involving First Amendment, right of privacy, and copyright issues for major media outlets and content creators.
Over the past 18 months, Mr. Gutierrez has maintained his position as a leading defender of the rights of his clients in high-profile disputes, having a lasting impact on the law as it relates to free speech, music, and entertainment development, production, and distribution.
Mr. Gutierrez joined Ballard Spahr in August 2019 through a merger with the storied Century City boutique entertainment firm Leopold, Petrich & Smith, where he was a partner for many years.
