Colleen McCarty is a Las Vegas-based commercial litigation attorney who represents individuals and corporations in complex civil litigation cases, labor and employment matters, and media law issues.
Colleen has litigated jury and bench trials in Nevada’s Eighth Judicial District Court, argued high-profile appellate matters before the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and engaged in extensive motion practice in all courts throughout Nevada and in multiple federal district court and circuit court jurisdictions. Her recent matters include:
- Successfully litigating separation of powers enforcement action, resulting in published Nevada Supreme Court opinions expanding the public-importance standing exception and precluding dual service of legislators in state employment;
- Obtaining dismissal of anti-SLAPP action on behalf of podcast company, podcast distributor and other defendants, including six-figure attorney fees and costs award;
- Securing declaratory judgment on behalf of aircraft charter company in federal trademark infringement action and affirmance of decision by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit;
- Conducting internal investigations for global retail and state mining companies, resulting in the identification of deficient business practices and development of new policies and procedures.
