BK Katzmann is an associate in the firm’s Finance Department, focusing on public finance matters. They represent 501(c)(3) organizations, municipalities, governmental authorities, investment banking firms, LIHTC investors, and private companies on a variety of tax-exempt and taxable debt financings. BK has experience serving as bond counsel, special tax counsel, underwriter's counsel, disclosure counsel, and borrower's counsel in diverse public finance transactions, including financings for hospitals, colleges and universities, affordable housing projects, recycling and utilities facilities, and energy projects, among others.

BK draws from their prior experiences as a school teacher and nonprofit administrator to analyze complex legal issues and develop practical solutions for nonprofit, public, and corporate clients.

Professional Highlights

Pro Bono Experience

BK maintains an active pro bono practice, primarily representing transgender and nonbinary clients in name change matters. In addition to individual representation, BK is working with the Philadelphia Name Change Project to centralize the client intake process and train other pro bono attorneys to expand access to representation through the legal name change process. BK also represents community organizations with nonprofit incorporation and applications for federal tax exemption.
