Finance Attorney BK Katzmann Named Co-Leader of Equality Ballard Business Resource Group

BK Katzmann, an attorney in Ballard Spahr’s Public Finance and Infrastructure practices, has been named co-leader of Equality Ballard, the firm’s LGBTQIA+ business resource group.

Equality Ballard provides support and internal networking for Ballard Spahr’s community of LGBTQIA+ colleagues and allies.

A member of Ballard Spahr’s national Finance Department, BK advises clients on a variety of tax-exempt and taxable debt financings involving 501(c)(3) organizations, municipalities, government authorities, investment banking firms, and private companies. They have experience serving as bond counsel, special tax counsel, underwriter’s counsel, disclosure counsel, and borrower’s counsel in a diverse array of public finance transactions. As part of their pro bono practice, BK serves as an organizer of the Philadelphia Name Change Project, a group of attorney volunteers who help low-income transgender and nonbinary Philadelphians access legal name change services. The group trains volunteer attorneys on the legal name change process and partners with other community organizations to expand access to representation.

BK is the recipient of the 2024 Public Service Award from the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Large Firm Management Committee in honor of pro bono and public service efforts to address challenges faced by individuals and communities in need.

BK joins fellow Finance Department Associate Ethan A. Anderson as co-leader of Equality Ballard.
