Ballard Spahr Launches AI Tools Led by 'Ask Ellis' Chatbot

Law360 reported on Ballard Spahr's rollout of a custom suite of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including Ask Ellis, a chatbot named after Ellis Ames Ballard who co-founded the firm 140 years ago.
"Really the idea is to free [lawyers] up so that they're not spending so much time on tedious things or non-billable time," said Liso Mayo Haynes, director of technology innovation at Ballard Spahr. "If we can create tools that help them do non-billable work quicker, then that's a win. That frees them up to do more strategic type of work for their clients, and everyone involved can win."
