Worldwide stainless steel distributor Straub Metal International has been acquired by Norfolk Iron & Metal, one of the nation’s largest family-owned steel service centers.
Lawyers from Ballard Spahr’s Mergers and Acquisitions Group represented Straub Metal, based in Ashley, Pennsylvania, in the transaction. The company distributes stainless steel alloy grades including T409, 409 AL, T439, T441 and 18CrCb stainless steel, used in a wide range of applications, from automotive exhaust systems and agricultural equipment to HVAC systems and furnaces.
Norfolk Iron & Metal (NIM) services customers across country with value-added metals processing and distribution of a full line of metal products, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum products. Its acquisition of Straub Metal expands NIM’s stainless steel sheet and coil product lines to continue NIM’s “growth and investment throughout the United States,” the company said in a news release.
The Ballard Spahr team that represented Straub Metal in the transaction was led by Brian D. Doerner, co-leader of the firm’s M&A Group, and included Christian R. Barnes, Christopher T. Cognato, Jonathan R. Flora, Harry A. Levin, Joshua T. Natzel, and Stephanie A. Zirpoli.
