Raymond G. Truitt, a member of Ballard Spahr’s national Real Estate Department, has been elected President-Elect of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), a national association of distinguished real estate lawyers.
Mr. Truitt’s election took place during ACREL’s recent annual meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His term as President-Elect begins January 1, 2025, and follows his service over the past year as Vice President. Prior to that, Mr. Truitt served as ACREL Treasurer in 2023 and Secretary in 2022, as well as on the ACREL Board of Governors.
Based in Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore office, Mr. Truitt is known for his work on commercial real estate financing, restructuring, development, and leasing. In addition to his work with ACREL, Mr. Truitt is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and has served as Chair of both its Section of Real Property and the Section’s Code Revision Committee. He is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and its U.S. Law Conference Program Committee, for which he also served as Chair.
ACREL is widely regarded as the premier organization of U.S. real estate lawyers. Admission is by invitation only based on outstanding legal ability, experience, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct. ACREL presents professional education and networking events, publishes educational and informational materials, and performs public service projects.
Mr. Truitt automatically will become ACREL President on January 1, 2026. His extensive service to ACREL continues Ballard Spahr’s long tradition of membership and leadership in the organization. Three Ballard Spahr lawyers have served as presidents of the College: the late Richard R. Goldberg, retired partner Morton P. Fisher, Jr., and Roger D. Winston, leader of the firm’s Mixed-Use, Condominium, and Multifamily Development practice.
