Draft Model Law on Green Commercial Lease Provisions

Jessica Mickelsen Simon authored a recently published model law and memorandum on green commercial leases as part of the implementation project of Legal Pathways to Deep Decarbonization in the United States. The model law is intended to assist commercial landlords, tenants, and other parties-in-interest in drafting green commercial lease provisions that comply with state and city green building codes and third-party rating systems, along with supporting energy- and water-efficiency and sustainability objectives in the commercial building sector. It is particularly pertinent to office buildings, shopping centers, retail, and other large commercial properties.
