Noted Real Estate Attorney Derek L. Sorenson Joins Ballard Spahr as a Partner

Derek L. Sorenson—a real estate attorney with a national practice in commercial real estate—has joined Ballard Spahr as a partner in the firm’s Phoenix office, firm Chair Mark S. Stewart announced today.

Mr. Sorenson is a business attorney with a national practice advising clients in an array of real estate matters, including development, acquisitions, and dispositions, as well as leasing and financing projects. He handles complex land use and regulatory matters for real estate acquisitions and development projects. His clients include one of the nation’s leading owners, operators, and developers of top retail and mixed-use destinations and a convenience delivery startup that is among the country’s most valuable emerging companies.

While working across the United States, much of Mr. Sorenson’s work currently is located in Arizona, California, Pennsylvania, and Nevada.

Mr. Sorenson’s arrival is the latest development in the strategic growth of Ballard Spahr’s real estate transactional and financing capabilities across the firm’s 15 offices. He has joined Craig Solomon Ganz, Michael J. Ostermeyer, and Karen DaCosta Perzan—who each help national and regional real estate owners, investors, lenders, and users find creative, efficient, cost-effective solutions to their real estate-related business challenges—and so continues the expansion of the firm’s Phoenix real estate practices.
