Jacey Skinner Named Women Lawyers of Utah's Woman Lawyer of the Year

Jacey Skinner has received the Christine M. Durham Woman Lawyer of the Year Award from Women Lawyers of Utah.

The Christine M. Durham Woman Lawyer of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding woman in the legal profession who exemplifies professionalism, excellence, and a dedication to furthering the opportunities for women in the law. It is named after Christine M. Durham, the first woman to serve on the Utah Supreme Court, which she did from 1982 to 2017, and first woman to serve as its chief justice, which she did from 2002 to 2012.

Jacey is a member of Ballard Spahr’s Litigation Department and Government Affairs and Public Policy and Political and Election Law teams. Before joining Ballard Spahr, she served as General Counsel and Legislative Director to Utah Governor Gary Herbert and then Lieutenant Governor Spencer J. Cox. In that role she advised Governor Herbert in the appointment of 83 state court judges. In addition to her current practice at Ballard Spahr advising government entities, private companies, nonprofits, and campaigns, Jacey serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Utah State University, is an adjunct professor at the University of Utah’s S. J. Quinney College of Law teaching election law, and serves as a board member for several nonprofit organizations. She also held the positions of Director of the Utah Sentencing Commission under Governor Jon M. Huntsman and Governor Gary R. Herbert, Deputy State Court Administrator for the State of Utah, and Deputy District Attorney at the Salt Lake County District Attorney's office. From 2019 to 2021, she served as Executive Vice President of Public Policy and General Counsel for the Salt Lake Chamber.
