Police Raid of Kansas Newsroom Raises Press Freedom Concerns

August 14, 2023

Law enforcement officials in Kansas raided the office of the Marion County Record and the home of one of its journalists, seizing computers, cell phones, and reporting materials as they investigated what they called "identity theft" related to an unpublished story about a local restaurateur.

The raid may have violated federal law and had many who work with and study the First Amendment concerned.
