After Fitful Starts, Trump Jan. 6 Investigations Hurtle Toward Charges

The local, state, and federal prosecutors who have been looking into misconduct surrounding the January 6, 2021 riots at the U.S. Capitol are moving into action. A reporter from The Washington Post spoke with Mark S. Kokanovich about Special Counsel Jack Smith's probe of former President Donald Trump.
“It’s unprecedented that we have a former president being indicted. But he did unprecedentedly bad things and no one is above the law," he said. “The people he conspired with lower down are getting accused, indicted and convicted [in the Capitol riot]. It’s only right that the people at the top face the same consequences. There is no top above Donald Trump in that pyramid.”
Mr. Kokanovich, who was a former Assistant U.S. Attorney in Arizona for more than seven years, is a member of the firm's Political and Election Law and Government Affairs and Public Policy groups.
