Pushback on Utah Law Foreshadows More Age-Check Fights

In Utah, a law requiring age verification before a user can view adult content has set off a disagreement over whether it's the best way to protect children and whether it runs roughshod over privacy and First Amendment freedoms. Eleven other states have either introduced or enacted similar legislation.
Gregory Szewczyk spoke to Bloomberg about the privacy concerns inherent in websites collecting and possibly retaining user data, like age. Mr. Szewczyk leads Ballard Spahr's Privacy and Data Security Group.
