Kristen Larson—an attorney with almost two decades of experience advising midsized and large national banks on financial services matters—has joined Ballard Spahr's Business and Transactions Department and Consumer Financial Services Group as Of Counsel, firm Chair Mark Stewart announced today.
Ms. Larson will be resident in the firm’s Minneapolis office. She is the 11th attorney to join the Consumer Financial Services Group in the past six months and the first in that timeframe to join the firm in the Midwest. Ms. Larson’s practice involves consumer, small business, and treasury management deposits; digital banking; emerging payments; servicing; innovative technology; information security; operations; marketing; and complex service contracts. She has experience with the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, National Bank Act, Federal Deposit Insurance Act, Federal Reserve Act, UDAAP/UDAP, Truth in Savings Act, Truth in Lending Act, and other consumer protection laws.
“In the past several months, we’ve added remarkable talent to our Consumer Financial Services bench, and we’re fortunate to have Kristen continue that trend,” said Daniel JT McKenna, who co-leads the Consumer Financial Services Group alongside John D. Socknat. “With her on our roster, we’re even better positioned to help clients across the market, no matter which issues they face.”
Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Ms. Larson worked for two national Minneapolis-based banks, one Ohio-based national bank, and one New York-based national bank. She is the Board President of LegalCORPS, a Minnesota nonprofit organization that expands access to business law services for individuals and organizations to promote economic development and strengthen communities through the use of volunteer attorney services.
“Ballard Spahr’s Consumer Financial Services Group’s reputation is best in class, with unrivaled depth and breadth that will allow me to help more clients, expand my capabilities, and grow my legal practice,” Ms. Larson said. “I am honored to join a leading firm for diversity and inclusion where the attorneys care about each other and giving back to the community through their longstanding commitment to pro bono services. This is a terrific fit for me.”
