Consumer Financial Services Attorney John Kimble Rejoins Ballard Spahr in Los Angeles

John A. Kimble—who helps Fortune 500 and Fintech 50 borrowers, brokers, companies, and lenders navigate consumer financial services regulation—has rejoined Ballard Spahr’s Business and Transactions Department and Consumer Financial Services Group as Of Counsel. He is resident in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
Mr. Kimble has nearly a decade of experience in regulatory compliance, state and federal enforcement actions, and complex civil litigation. He works with clients on laws and regulations pertaining to open- and closed-end consumer and commercial credit (and other forms of financing, such as retail installment agreements and merchant cash advances), mortgage lending, auto lending, blockchain and decentralized finance, deposit accounts, and payment systems.

At Ballard Spahr, Mr. Kimble will help clients with new product development and management of traditional lending and credit products. He also counsels clients on issues regarding fair lending, debt collection and debt settlement practices, electronic fund transfers, credit reporting, TILA and state law disclosure requirements, student lending and student-loan servicing, bank partnerships, and innovative and emerging products such as buy-now-pay-later, earned wage access, and income share agreements. He is the co-chair of the Consumer Financial Services Committee of the Business Law Section of the California Lawyers Association.
Mr. Kimble, who was with Ballard Spahr between 2019 and 2020, has rejoined the firm from Paul Hastings. At Ballard Spahr, he is part of a nationally renowned Consumer Financial Services team that is continuously ranked in the highest tier nationally by Chambers USA. It is home to more than 70 attorneys who advise on regulatory matters, assist in the design and documentation of credit products, and represent clients in class actions, government regulatory enforcement proceedings, and other lawsuits nationwide.
