The American Lawyer Honors Brian Huben as 'West Trailblazer'

Brian D. Huben, a Ballard Spahr litigator who serves as Managing Partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office, has been named to The American Lawyer’s 2022 list of West Trailblazers.

The Trailblazers award from the monthly legal magazine and website recognizes attorneys who are “agents of change,” making significant, positive impacts on their practices through innovative methods and technological advancements. Mr. Huben and fellow honorees are profiled in the August/September issue of The American Lawyer.

Mr. Huben is recognized for conceiving and leading the effort to create a client-facing, secure portal that helps national commercial landlords track and manage tenant-related litigation matters—often dozens of cases at a time. A member of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group, Mr. Huben worked with the firm’s Client Value and Innovation Team to design and refine the portals, an element of the firm’s Ballard360 suite of custom technology applications, developed in-house. The portals provide the client’s team with instantaneous access to key information about tenant bankruptcy cases and state-court litigation, including documents, deadlines, hearing dates, and matter budget data, presented in user-friendly visual displays.
