Real Estate Attorney Barbara Casey Receives Girl Scouts Honor Award for a Second Time

Barbara A. Casey, a real estate partner in Ballard Spahr's New Jersey office, was presented with the Girl Scouts of Central & Southern New Jersey's (GSCSNJ) Honor Award at a ceremony on April 6.
The Honor Award recognizes the commitment of individuals and organizations who help instill leadership skills in girls of all ages. Ms. Casey also received the award in 2011.
Ms. Casey is vice chair of the GSCSNJ, has served on the organization's executive board since 2007, and was a Girl Scout as a child and young adult. She embraces the opportunity to give back to the organization that gave her so much.
"In a world where young women need to find their voices and their own personal callings, Girl Scouts provides an environment where girls can find the courage, strength of character, and passion for learning, growing, and making the world a better place," Ms. Casey said.
Ms. Casey's real estate practice focuses on real property acquisition, development, sales, leasing, and commercial lending. She assists clients on affordable housing, real estate transaction (sales, purchases and leasing), and land-use matters. Since joining Ballard Spahr in 1999, Ms. Casey has logged nearly 1,000 hours of pro bono service. She has represented Habitat for Humanity chapters throughout the state in various real estate transactions and matters.
Ms. Casey is active with the New Jersey Builders Association, working with NJBA on analysis and drafting of legislation and regulations affecting the home building community. She served as the Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Real Property Trust and Estate Law Section and frequently presents at legal education programs throughout the state.
In addition, Ms. Casey has written and published articles about improving diversity and gender equality in the legal industry. Last year, she was among 20 just attorneys statewide to receive the New Jersey Law Journal's "Top Women in Law 2018" distinction.
