Washington Post Wins Suit Seeking Disciplinary Records of Former LGBTQ and Community Policing Liaison with History of Excessive Force

After a high-profile, retired Washington, D.C. police officer with a history of excessive force complaints was arrested after meeting a minor for sex, The Washington Post filed three FOIA requests to access his personnel files - and had each of those requests denied.
Writing in the Media Law Resource Center's MediaLawLetter, Margaret N. Strouse, Maxwell S. Mishkin, and Chuck Tobin detailed how they obtained access to those public records for the Post and were awarded attorneys' fees. All three coauthors are members of Ballard Spahr's nationally regarded Media and Entertainment Law Group.
