Catherine I. Seibel is an associate in the Intellectual Property Department who focuses her practice on matters involving copyright and trademark law and related topics such as right of publicity, licensing, and contract disputes. Catie represents a wide range of clients across various industries such as media, pharmaceutical, fashion, and automotive. She advises clients on protecting their intellectual property and has litigated matters at all stages, from pre-litigation evaluation of a case, to high-stakes trials and appeals. Catie drafts pleadings, briefs and motions, navigates complex discovery, and has prepared and examined experts and witnesses for deposition and trial. Catie has represented clients in federal and state court, in the United States Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in international arbitration. She is also a co-leader of the firm's Ballard Women business resource group.

- Member of trial team representing one of the world’s most prestigious medical research foundations in an international arbitration over royalties related to a breakthrough pharmaceutical product.
- Member of trial team for one of the world’s leading vaccine companies in a 10 day ICC arbitration trial, where team successfully defeated a 9-figure claim sought by a licensor that claimed Ballard’s client did not use “diligent efforts” to globally commercialize an anti-viral therapy.
- Successfully moved to compel arbitration on behalf of a leading media network in a dispute involving the use of footage in two television programs.

Pro Bono Experience
Catie prides herself in serving the community though her pro bono practice in a wide range of areas. Recently, she successfully assisted a pro bono client in obtaining a federal trademark registration, and she worked with a local non-profit to assist clients in applying for U.S. citizenship. She has worked on clemency matters, assisted transgender individuals in the name change process, and represented a local artist in a breach of contract action through the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.
