Ballard Spahr Senior Counsel Louis P. Petrich received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Los Angeles Copyright Society (LACS) at its May 8 monthly meeting.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to individuals who have achieved a lifetime of success working in the field of copyright law and who have played an important role within LACS. Its members include outside lawyers, lawyers at motion picture studios, media companies, and other corporations and entities who handle matters concerning intellectual property.

Mr. Petrich, who has served on the Board of Trustees of and is a past president of LACS, is one of the most experienced attorneys practicing media law in the United States. He has argued several landmark First Amendment and intellectual property cases, and his clients include titans of the entertainment industry in television, film, and insurance. He frequently lectures on copyright, right of publicity, and media issues, and has advised legislators on the development of media law at the state and federal level. Mr. Petrich, who is a member of the firm’s nationally regarded Media and Entertainment Law Group, joined Ballard Spahr in 2019 alongside six other attorneys from the Century City entertainment law firm Leopold, Petrich & Smith.
