Keisha O. Coleman—an experienced trial lawyer who handles business disputes, securities issues, and investigations by federal regulators—has joined Ballard Spahr’s Litigation Department and White Collar Defense/Internal Investigations and Securities and Corporate Governance Litigation groups as a partner, firm Chair Mark Stewart announced today. She will be resident in the firm’s Atlanta office.
Ms. Coleman has tried federal white collar criminal cases and handled securities matters involving the SEC, FINRA, and the DOJ. Her work on behalf of financial institutions spans beneficiary disputes, account and factoring fraud, internal investigations into potential trading or sales practices violations, mortgage fraud, and third-party subpoenas. She also has experience with restrictive covenants disputes and health care fraud. Ms. Coleman regularly counsels financial institutions regarding fiduciary and custodial accounts disputes.
“Keisha’s arrival in Atlanta is a superb development as we continue to expand our capabilities in the Southeast,” said Litigation Department Chair Jason A. Leckerman. “Her combination of courtroom experience and broad litigation and investigative capabilities will be a considerable asset to clients, both in Atlanta and nationally.”
Ms. Coleman is the third consecutive female white collar partner to join Ballard Spahr, following Elizabeth S. Fenton, who joined in Delaware in March 2022, and Jill Steinberg, who joined the firm’s Philadelphia office in September 2021.
“I’m thrilled to rejoin Ballard Spahr. This firm is big enough to do sophisticated work and small enough to have a culture of collaboration and inclusiveness,” Ms. Coleman said. “I look forward to working with my white collar colleagues across the country and to expanding the service we provide in Atlanta.”
