Alexander Risman is a member of Ballard Spahr’s Housing Finance Group. He represents national lenders in the financing of multifamily real estate projects throughout the United States, with an emphasis on multifamily housing finance transactions involving government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Alex has successfully closed many Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac financings for the acquisition, renovation, and refinancing of multifamily housing projects. He also has experience with non-GSE financing transactions, such as representing government entities for the financing of multi-use properties involving both multifamily and commercial uses. Additionally, Alex has represented real estate developers in the acquisition of multifamily real estate projects, including drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements and performing due diligence on the acquisition of those projects.

Pro Bono Experience

Alex has represented multiple individuals and their families through the process of applying and seeking asylum in the United States. His support has helped ensure that these individuals are able to relocate from their home countries due to unsafe conditions and risk to their lives should they be forced to return home.
