Azer Akhtar represents lenders in the financing of multifamily properties located throughout the United States. In this role, Azer primarily represents lenders and GSE loan servicers in the origination, sale, and servicing of commercial real estate loans under Freddie Mac’s CME and TAH product lines; and Fannie Mae’s DUS and MAH product lines. Azer has closed hundreds of transactions, including both conventional and affordable originations, and has extensive experience with financings involving low-income housing tax credits, HAP contracts, preferred equity, ground leases, PILOTs, tax abatements, and the like.
Azer also has experience representing CMBS lenders in connection with commercial real estate loans intended for securitization or sale in the secondary market. Additionally, Azer has represented national lenders in residential real estate foreclosures, real estate-related litigation and related appellate matters.
