Addressing Generational Differences on Harassment in the Workplace

Jay A. Zweig, partner at Ballard Spahr and member of the firm's Labor and Employment Group, spoke with Legal Management magazine for their piece on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s recent reminder that workplace harassment can be based on sex, race, religion, and other factors.
“Employers need an articulated, clear policy against harassment that is effectively communicated to all employees,” Jay said. “The communication needs to be clear that the employer disapproves of workplace harassment, that employees are encouraged, and in the case of supervisors, required to report harassment, and that the employer will investigate such reports and take corrective action.”
