Weakened CFPB Prompts Ballard Spahr to Form State Team

Law360 reported on Ballard Spahr's newly formed State Attorneys General Consumer Finance Response Team, which the firm assembled in response to the Trump administration's efforts to effectively shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
"We have clients that have been the subject of active and open CFPB investigations," said Adrian R. King, Jr., Partner at Ballard Spahr. "Those all seem to be in limbo right now. And of course, the clients are happy about that, but we also understand that state [attorneys general] can pick up the slack through state consumer protection statutes, which are often quite broad."
