Ballard Spahr Partner Alyssa Domzal has been named to the Baltimore Business Journal’s 2024 40 Under 40 list of business professionals whose outstanding work benefits their organizations, industries, professions, and communities.
A member of the firm’s Real Estate Department and Real Estate Development and Transactions Group, Alyssa and fellow honorees are recognized as “the next generation of business stars … rising in Greater Baltimore.” They were selected from nearly 300 nominations and honored at an event last week at the Maryland Live Casino & Hotel in Hanover.
“For real estate law specifically, my advice is to develop an industry-wide network as early as possible in your career,” Alyssa told the Baltimore Business Journal in a December 6 profile. “So much of what we do is collaborative with architects, civil engineers, surveyors, etc. It is tremendously helpful to have that network early on, both for guidance and for referrals.”
Alyssa represents owners, developers, and investors in a wide range of commercial real estate transactions and land use and zoning matters. She has represented the developers of landmark real estate projects in Baltimore, including Baltimore Peninsula, the UMB BioPark, and the flagship Baltimore Topgolf entertainment facility.
Alyssa contributes significant pro bono service, including real estate transactional work for nonprofit organizations and representing unaccompanied minors from Central America in visa cases. She also serves on the boards of directors of two Baltimore-based organizations: as president of One House At A Time, the city’s vacant housing receiver and rehab facilitator, and on the executive committee of Live Baltimore, which works citywide to grow Baltimore’s economy by attracting and retaining the City’s residential population.
