A First in Georgia: Emory Law Clinic to Partner With USPTO

August 5, 2024

Emory University School of Law is partnering with Ballard Spahr, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and Georgia Lawyers for the Arts to open a first-of-its-kind intellectual property clinic in Georgia. The IP and Innovation Clinic will support underrepresented inventors seeking patent protection. Ballard Spahr attorneys will work with and mentor the law students who operate the clinic and help represent clients.

"As Ballard Spahr attorneys engage with their own pro bono clients, our students will be able to sit in on those meetings and see how these attorneys conduct these meetings with clients and learn from seeing," said Margo Bagley, one of the Emory law alums who will lead the nonprofit, in an interview with Law360.
