Industry Continues to Review Impact of Supreme Court Decision

RESPA News spoke with Richard J. Andreano, Jr., about the June 28 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that the Administrative Procedures Act requires judges to exercise independent judgment and not defer to the interpretation of agencies such as the CFPB, EPA, or FTC if a statute is ambiguous.

“The overruling of Chevron is very significant,” Richard Andreano, Ballard Spahr Mortgage Banking Group leader, told RESPA News. He added that it signals “a profound shift in how federal agencies may take actions.”
