This Ballard Spahr Partner Just Guided Her Son to an Unprecedented Pro Soccer Deal

Heike K. Sullivan's 14-year-old son Cavan entertained interest from many soccer powerhouses before he signed a contract with Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union. When he turns 18, he will play for Manchester City. Ms. Sullivan, a former soccer player for the University of Pennsylvania, helped him weigh his choices and make a strategic decision.

“For me, it was important that his draw [to the Union] wasn’t just an emotional one. It was my job to help him analyze the pros and cons of all these options,” she told The Legal Intelligencer. “My role was to make sure he was making a smart business decision, a smart career decision, a life decision that can set his trajectory.”
