Private-Sector AI Bill Clears Utah Legislature

A reporter from the International Association of Privacy Professionals spoke with Jacey Skinner about Utah's Artificial Intelligence Policy Act, which passed the legislature on February 28. Ms. Skinner talked about how the law attempts to encourage small AI developers while still creating guardrails for accountability and consumer protection.
"Utah's always prided themselves of being a place that fosters innovation and is a unique place to do business," she said.
Ms. Skinner, who has held several positions within Utah state politics, is a member of Ballard Spahr's Government Affairs and Public Policy and Political and Election Law practices. She works with attorneys from the firm's Artificial Intelligence initiative.
