Law360 spoke with Ballard Spahr's Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer Virginia Essandoh about results of a survey of diversity professionals across major U.S. law firms. Ms. Essandoh noted that Ballard Spahr for many years has had a stand-alone Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Department that reports directly to the firm chair, giving her direct influence on the firm's direction.

"We work constantly to make sure we are reminding everyone that diversity is part of the conversation," Essandoh said.
