Ballard Spahr's Ken Jarin Named to City & State Pennsylvania's 2023 Fifty Over 50

Ballard Spahr Government Affairs and Public Policy Partner Kenneth M. Jarin has been named to City & State Pennsylvania’s Fifty Over 50 list.

City & State Pennsylvania is a multimedia organization that covers state and local politics and policy in the commonwealth. Its Fifty Over 50 list recognizes the most influential difference-makers over the age of 50. It praised those on its list—which includes community organizers, entrepreneurs, lobbyists, and politicians—for their civic responsibility, professionalism, relationship-building, and vision.

In his practice, Mr. Jarin focuses on advocating for businesses, organizations, and institutions before elected officials and public agencies at the federal, state, and local levels of government. He advises on election law as well, providing legal and strategic advice to political candidates and campaigns, nonprofits, and companies on matters involving elections, campaign finance, and the political process.

Mr. Jarin has been nominated by President Biden to chair the board of U.S. Agency for Global Media, the federal agency that oversees Voice of America and Radio Free Europe. He has also served as treasurer of the Democratic Governors Association and deputy finance chair of the Democratic National Committee. He served as Deputy City Solicitor and chief labor attorney for the City of Philadelphia during the administration of Mayor William Green and later as the City's outside labor negotiator until 2015. He was a presidential appointee to the National Council on the Arts, the governing board of the National Endowment for the Arts, during the administration of President Clinton, and served as chairman of the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education from 2005 to 2011.
