Justin H. Brown, a partner at national law firm Ballard Spahr, has been awarded the Daniel R. Ginsberg Leadership Award by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in recognition of his “leadership in the fight against anti-Semitism, racism, and all forms of prejudice.”
Mr. Brown is one of just four individuals nationally to receive the award for 2023, conferred at a ceremony April 30 during the ADL’s annual National Leadership Summit in Washington. The ADL is a leading national anti-hate organization whose “ultimate goal is a world in which no group or individual suffers from bias, discrimination, or hate.”
The leadership award was established more than 25 years ago to honor the memory and legacy of Daniel R. Ginsberg, a former ADL National Commissioner and National Executive Committee member. It recognizes rising young leaders in the ADL who have a “proven commitment to the League and its goals and show potential for national leadership.”
Based in Philadelphia, Mr. Brown serves as Co-Chair of the Education Committee and on the Board and Executive Committee of the ADL’s Philadelphia regional chapter, encompassing eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.
Mr. Brown was drawn to the educational aspect of the ADL’s work because it is “focused on combating hate, discrimination, extremism, and anti-Semitism before they happen,” by “shaping the hearts and minds of the next generation,” he said during his remarks at the awards ceremony.
“ADL education is on the front lines of the war against hate every single day,” Mr. Brown stated.
In his practice, Mr. Brown focuses on serving as a trusted adviser to clients on wealth transfer, asset protection, and business succession. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and an adjunct professor at the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law.
