Ballard Spahr Represents CDI Engineering Solutions in Sale of Business Unit

Attorneys from Ballard Spahr represented CDI Engineering Solutions (CDI), a portfolio company of AE Industrial Partners, in the sale of CDI’s L.R. Kimball division to TranSystems Corp. Financial terms were not disclosed.

CDI is a multidisciplinary engineering organization offering a full range of integrated engineering, design, and project support services to the energy and chemical markets.

The Ballard Spahr team that advised CDI on the sale of L.R. Kimball was led by Brian Short, a Philadelphia-based partner in the firm’s Business and Transactions Department, and included tax Partner Jonathan Flora, IP Partner Lynn Rzonca, and labor and employment Partner Shannon Farmer from the Philadelphia office, as well as employee benefits Partner Joshua Natzel and corporate law Associates Jody Ferris and Stephen Stark from Ballard Spahr’s Minneapolis office, and environmental law Partner Lea Phillips from the firm’s Phoenix office.

CDI is a portfolio company of AE Industrial Partners, a private equity firm specializing in aerospace, defense and government services, space, power generation, and specialty industrial markets. The transaction was completed in May 2021.
