Ballard Spahr has been ranked a top firm by Chambers FinTech 2021, a comprehensive guide to the leading professionals in the FinTech space. Partners James Kim and Kim Phan also were ranked individually in the Payments & Lending and Data Protection & Cyber Security categories, respectively.

Ballard Spahr’s Fintech and Payments Industry Group, headed by Partners James Kim and Ronald K. Vaske, was recognized nationwide for its strength in the overall Fintech Legal category and the Fintech Legal: Payments & Lending subcategory. Mr. Kim, based in the firm’s New York office, advises fintechs, banks, investors, and other clients regarding federal and state consumer financial laws and regulations. He also assists clients with product development, regulatory due diligence, and matters involving cutting-edge financial technology issues, data aggregation, credit and prepaid cards, and marketplace lending.
Ms. Phan, based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, advises clients on data security and privacy laws. She offers counsel on matters relating to privacy, data breach prevention and incident response, and implementation of novel technologies.
