Ballard Spahr Attorneys Represent Cuban Journalist in Asylum Case

The Daily Record covered the story of Cuban journalist Serafín Morán Santiago, who was granted asylum by the United States after being detained in Texas since April. Mr. Santiago reported on human rights abuses, persecution of political dissidents, and government corruption in Cuba.
Ballard Spahr’s William Alden McDaniel, Jr., Anu Susan Thomas, and Maraya Pratt represented Mr. Morán Santiago pro bono in the matter. Said Mr. McDaniel: "We all talk about liberty in this country. But this man has put his life on the line repeatedly because of his belief in liberty and free expression. And he suffered for it. It was an honor to represent him."
