The Ringer spoke to Ballard Spahr’s Dee Spagnuolo, who represented the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team pro bono in its fight for equitable pay and support for an article about the team, as it heads into its showdown against Canada for Olympic gold.
"During negotiations, they prioritized requests and demands that were in the best interest of the sport over pulling in more dollars for themselves," Ms. Spagnuolo said. "They took a long-term view and wanted to know that when they retired from the sport, that they left their mark for the next generation."
