Mark Gaylord, Edward McAndrew, and Tyler Hawkins, along with Dean Sapp, Chief Information Security Officer for Braintrace, will discuss the results of The State of Cybersecurity Report, recently released by the ACC. Underwritten by Ballard Spahr, the report provides insight on corporate cybersecurity issues from more than 600 general counsel, Chief Legal Officers, and other senior law department leaders at organizations worldwide. This presentation will summarize key findings from the study and some of the hottest issues in cybersecurity. We also will provide practical takeaways that in-house counsel can begin implementing to enhance their overall levels of cybersecurity.

The ACC Foundation's new report updates and builds on the 2015 edition, also underwritten by Ballard Spahr. The 2018 report reflects the fact that companies experienced more breaches than ever in 2017—up 45% from 2016—as in-house counsel continue to increase the amount of attention—and money—spent on protecting sensitive online data. The report includes:

  • Survey results and supplemental information on industry and regional trends
  • Common preventative tactics
  • Lessons learned from those who experienced a breach
  • The impact of regulatory requirements
  • Insurance decision making and coverage
  • Managing risk through outside support, such as forensic experts and outside counsel

Ballard Spahr will be giving away two complimentary copies of The State of Cybersecurity for in-person attendees. The program also will be available as a webcast.
