Ballard Spahr has expanded its nationally recognized Real Estate practice with the arrival in its Phoenix office of Michael J. Ostermeyer and Karen DaCosta Perzan, who advise clients across the commercial real estate sector on acquisitions, development, financing, and portfolio transactions, firm Chair Mark Stewart announced today.
“Our development and financing platforms have grown in recent years, and we are continuing to build out our capabilities to meet increasing client demand in the West and Midwest,” said Ballard Spahr Real Estate Department Chair Bart I. Mellits. “Mike and Karen are a perfect fit for us. Their extensive experience handling deals across the university and education space, as well as advising corporations on real estate matters, dovetails with our focus on Eds and Meds and our work as real estate counsel to corporate America.”
Mr. Ostermeyer joins the firm as a partner. He has business training and more than 25 years of experience representing owners and investors in real estate finance and development matters. He focuses on three main areas of practice: guiding public infrastructure projects; developing commercial, institutional, and industrial real estate; and advising on real estate portfolios.
Ms. Perzan, of counsel, has worked on the buy and sell side of real estate transactions across the country. She also advises on financing and leasing transactions, including EB-5 funding.
Ballard Spahr is a national leader in large-scale development projects—serving clients on both the investment and development side of the industry in matters and projects of all types, ranging from university facilities and corporate headquarters to affordable housing and mixed-use developments. The firm’s Real Estate Department attorneys represent corporations nationally for their real estate matters, including management and disposition of real estate assets.
Ballard Spahr’s ability to service corporate and other real estate clients in the West will grow even stronger with the addition of Mr. Ostermeyer and Ms. Perzan in the Phoenix office, where the firm’s attorneys also represent regional and national companies on corporate matters, litigation, public finance, and intellectual property.
