Change Could Weaken Fair Lending Office at Consumer Bureau

CNN Money spoke to Ballard Spahr’s Alan Kaplinsky on CFPB Director Mick Mulvaney’s decision to move the bureau’s Office of Fair Lending and Equal Opportunity under his own direct oversight and strip the office of its enforcement authority.
“They won’t be ‘pushing the envelope’ in the fair lending area to go after companies where they are not on very solid ground,” Mr. Kaplinksy said. “Those days are over now.”
