Join us as we describe the recent scrutiny of credit card and other rewards programs, address industry best practices, and explore potential rulemaking. And prepare for a targeted exam by the CFPB or an enforcement investigation or lawsuit by federal or state agencies. We will address the federal and state laws that apply to rewards programs, including the UDAAP and UDAP landscape, and identify the practices that regulators dislike.

We will cover the following topics:

  • CFPB’s biennial CARD Act reports addressing credit card rewards programs
  • CFPB’s 2023 enforcement action related to credit card rewards points
  • New York’s required grace period for credit card rewards points
  • CFPB and DoT joint hearing on airline and credit card rewards programs
  • CFPB’s May 2024 report on credit card rewards and industry response
  • Potential impact of Credit Card Competition Act of 2023 (a/k/a Durbin 2.0)
  • Rewards considerations for co-brand credit card relationships for both the creditor and the co-brand partner
  • Preparing for a targeted exam of your rewards program

This program is pending approval for 1.0 CLE credit in CA, NV, NY, PA & MN; and 1.2 NJ. Uniform Certificates of Attendance will also be provided for the purpose of seeking credit in other jurisdictions.
