She develops global strategies for registration and enforcement of foreign and domestic trademarks and copyrights and handles litigation before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Tanya has handled negotiations and disputes for clients in a wide range of industries; she is particularly well known for her work in the entertainment sector.
Tanya has considerable experience in the drafting and negotiation of entertainment-based agreements, transfer and acquisition of intellectual property rights, trademark and copyright licenses, and music licensing. She also works with clients to develop domain name strategies and protect their trademarks from cyber squatters through negotiation or arbitration.
Before law school, Tanya worked at Sony Music Entertainment, Inc., and EMI Music Publishing, where she handled matters involving music licensing and the calculation of royalties. After graduating, she worked at a boutique entertainment firm in New York City, where she negotiated and drafted recording, publishing, and other entertainment-related agreements for high-profile clients, including recording artists, music publishers and producers, songwriters, music-distribution technologies, and fashion designers.
Her private practice experience also includes working in the Washington, D.C., office as a member of the intellectual property and media and entertainment groups and co-manager of the trademark practice at a national law firm.
